“E.L Doctorow once said that “writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can see only as far as your headlights but you can make the whole trip that way.” You don’t have to see where you’re going, you don’t have to see your destination or everything you will pass along the way.  You just have to see two or three feet ahead of you. This is right up there with the best advice about writing, or life, I have ever heard.” - Anne Lamott

Thank you E.L. Doctorow and thank you Anne Lamott for shedding some light. Amen.

Burning Inside of Me

“I felt very strongly that there was something inside of me, something that I wanted to express. I am sure everybody feels this way but particularly young people. Like there must be something I am good at. I felt it burning inside of me or something I’d like to try very hard to do. I had no sense of what it was. And it felt urgent to figure out what it was.” -Foer

I recently read this on another friend’s personal blog and it was just too good not to repost. Who doesn’t feel that burning at some point in their youth?

Maddie On Things

My roommates once put their beloved pup, Sheba, on top of our microwave. I thought it was hilarious when I heard about it and even coaxed an impromptu rendition of it later down the road. I thought they were the only ones that placed their dog on objects for entertainment but then I came upon this wonderfully entertaining blog full of Maddie the Coonhound positioned atop various objects.

Just imagine my delight! Imagine it!

Maddie prints can actually be purchased right off the site. I think it would be amazingly awesome to have a bathroom with a few Maddie prints hung. Imagine the conversation that would ensue…

p.s. was pleasantly surprised to see that some of the shots were taken in my home state. represent.
